Why The Church Of
Christ?
And I say also unto
thee, That thou art Peter, and upon this rock I
will build my church; and the gates of hell shall
not prevail against it.
Matthew 16:18
And
if he shall neglect to hear them, tell it unto
the church: but if he neglect to hear the church,
let him be unto thee as an heathen man and a
publican.
Matthew 18:17
Praising
God, and having favour with all the people. And
the Lord added to the church daily such as should
be saved.
Acts 2:47
In
these three scriptures the word church is
singular not plural. If the Lord added to
the church those being saved, then it must have
been very important that those saved people be
members of the church.
Take heed therefore unto yourselves, and to all
the flock, over the which the Holy Ghost hath
made you overseers, to feed the church of God,
which he hath purchased with his own blood.
Acts 20:28
Did
Jesus Christ purchase something that was not
necessary? The record say's here that Jesus
purchased the church with his own blood. If
the church is not a necessity, why is it that
Paul said "Jesus purchased the church with
his own blood". If you can be saved
outside of the church, then you can be saved
without the blood of Jesus Christ, and Jesus died
in vain. Jesus shed his blood for the
church.
There is one body, and one Spirit, even as ye are
called in one hope of your calling; One
Lord, one faith, one baptism, One God and Father
of all, who is above all, and through all, and in
you all.
Ephesians 4:4-6
Paul
say's there is just one body. What is the
body? So how many churches are there?
You can look at this scripture and say; If
there are many churches there are many
bodies. If there are many churches there
are many hopes. If there are many churches
there are many faiths. If there are many
churches there are many gods. If there are
many churches there are many fathers. That
makes as much sense as saying there are many
churches, and they are all well pleasing unto
God.
Husbands,
love your wives, even as Christ also loved the
church, and gave himself for it; That he
might sanctify and cleanse it with the washing of
water by the word, That he might present it
to himself a glorious church, not having spot, or
wrinkle, or any such thing; but that it should be
holy and without blemish.
Ephesians 5:25-27
What
name should the church wear? Jesus
purchased it with his blood. Paul say's
here that the relationship a husband has with his
wife is like the relationship Christ has with the
church. So shouldn't the church be called
by the name of the groom, Christ?
